dreams

Recently it was my ten year wedding anniversary and of course memory lane strikes! 20 years ago, I met my husband and though that is a long time; it feels like only yesterday we met.

With each passing year, I strongly feel that life is on fast forward. I remember in my tweens how slowly the clock moved. All my conversations started with “I  can’t wait…”. I can’t wait to be 18, I can’t wait to drive, I can’t wait to have my own place, I can’t wait to move out…

Yes, we may have been more critical of each other…commenting on her shoes, or her outfit or her hair, but now everyone looks amazing. I just can’t get over how cute all the kids are these days and how stunning the mums and dads look. I love this rosy coloured world I live in, I love the fact that I see beauty so much more readily. I love that I can appreciate so much more today than I did yesterday.

However, one thing never seems to change, how critical women can be of themselves. If I asked you to name all the things you loved, how long would it take for you to name yourself? Why is this the one thought problem that seems to stagnant, regardless of age and wisdom.

Well I challenge you to take pause. Ask yourself if you are happy. Are you where you want to be? Are you ‘living’? Are you really living? If your answer is a loud booming yes, then I am so pleased and proud of you. If your answer is no, or you’re not quite sure. That took courage to admit and again I am so pleased and proud of you! There is NO right or wrong answer. The only answer is what are you going to continue to do or change to create your own happiness.

The world doesn’t owe you happiness or anything. You owe it to yourself. If you want something, go and get it for yourself, not ask someone to deliver it to you (if you do that then you really don’t want it).  Regardless of your age or situation, chase your dreams. With hard work, you can do anything, be anybody, and live a life that you want to live. Live a life that you want to remember. One that you can tell your grandchildren, friends or strangers about that you can be proud of, and continues to rock your world and places a smile on your face, forever.

Dreams never die, so you might as well go for it!
